This is one of Balogh's happy tearjerkers, so be ready with a tissue in hand. Since both of the protagonists are extremely believable, the plot of a nobleman marrying a stranger from outside the nobility in order to infuriate his harsh father becomes a realistic and sometimes painful journey to love and reconciliation. Balogh's forte, making readers empathize with both sides of a mismatched union, is brilliantly realized in this book. Personally, I rank this as the second best Balogh book, right after Slightly Dangerous.
