Joan Wickersham has probably done the impossible. That is, she has written a no-nonsense account of how a suicide affects one's life forever. At the same time, she is honest in indicating that a survivor can probably never know exactly why a person makes the choice to end one's life. Not everything in life is an exact science, and not always do we know "the why" of things.
Wichkersham is an excellent and clear writer.
A friend of mine whose daughter completed suicide over 15 years ago recommended this book to me. She thought it was among the very best that she had read on the subject. I agree
