These stories are passed down from one generation of dog to the next. They are told by mothers to their children and from one friend to another. In this first story, Abby has come to live with Molly and her human family. Abby is very young and Molly is much older, but not yet elderly. To get Abby to fall asleep one night, Molly begins to tell her the story of how the very first dogs met the very first squirrels. This is the story of The Squirrel King: Prince Ethan and Princess Sophia were just out playing one morning when they ran into a strange small creature sitting up in a tree. Prince Stephen was just out searching for a gift for his father when he looked down from his perch high in an ancient oak and saw the two giant animals below him.
