Although well written, this book was a bit of a disappointment to me especially after reading the wonderful "An Inconveniet Wife" by the same author. The story line was intriguing enough - mediums, the spirit world and murder, but I have to say that I figured out who did it early on and also the victim's "big secret" . Still, it was entertaining enough to recommend.

gripping to the end
set in the early 20th century, this book revolves around that periods interest in mesmerism and magic. The main character tries to find the murderer of her wealthy husband who has been frequenting seances. All is not as it seems and the characters who have known each other for years really know nothing about each other...and as is the best kind of who-dun-it....we don't know until the end. I would highly recommend this as a mystery/romance/magical read.
