Berdiaev, Berdiaeff; 1874-1948). The original Russian text was published in 1910. The present text is the first time that this work has been translated into English, and is among those hitherto inaccessible earlier Berdyaev books, written while still in Russia, prior to his 1922 permanent banishment from Russia by the Soviet Communist regime. Significant towards an understanding of the formation of Berdyaev's matured thought, the book presents insights into the societal, literary, cultural and religious currents of foment in Russia and beyond, in the immediate years following the "1905 Russian Revolution".
