It was recently said in a noted monthly journal that it was not now taught that the spirits of mortals ever reincarnated into animals. This is not correct. This doctrine is taught and believed by the more or less uneducated in the Orient and by a few English-speaking people. To this end in London Light, December, 1901, occurs this statement: "The medium being impelled to take a pencil, ... wrote this under spirit control: 'I was a man on earth, but I was an unfaithful servant; I cheated and robbed and deceived my master, and now in the form of a dog, I am forced to learn what fidelity means.' " Such statements I denominate the dark-eclipse side of the subject--a psychological exaggeration or a dreamy hallucination. The late Dr. Helen Densmore, a most amiable and talented lady, of New York, in giving her reasons for re-embodiments, said: "That which coerced conviction of the correctness of reincarnation to my mind is the fact that it solves what had heretofore been insoluble problems, and makes consistent and simple what without this doctrineis chaos and night. "I believe successive embodiments are a matter of choice after an adequate degree of evolution has been reached..
