The Solitary Poet, a pocket volume, a poem of over two thousand verses, singing the history of a people, a nation, within the global context. A piece of art exhibiting its own dynamic completeness, unique wholeness and creativity. As such, it is able to awaken the interest of the social scientist. There is science and there is art in this work; there is a form of inspiration that, from the distance, invades the spirit of the poet. And this investigates, looking for knowledge, establishing guidelines, solving problems, proposing just ideas. Here we encounter a poet -interpreting the self-evident history of a downcast nation- with the eyes of the good son, with the heart of the lover, the passion of the artist, the curiosity of the scientist; trying to give the best answer to help pave that path to which Gandhi calls peace. And so does the poet, promoting the well-being of his homeland -Nicaragua- and exhorting key international nations to "shake hands with the people (not the tyrant) with unclenched fists."
