It doesn't take Archie long to regret Nero Wolfe's life of flattery, since the case they investigate on Sperling's behalf leads to the conservatory on the roof of the brownstone, which houses Wolfe's 10,000 orchids, being ruined by a machine-gun attack. The author also wrote "The Red Box".

Seller's Description:
First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. 8vo. pp 243. Original publisher's blue cloth lettered yellow at the spine. From the Donald Rudd collection of detective fiction. A Nero Wolfe Novel. Slight fading at spine, otherwise very good in near very good dust jacket, with some rubbing at edges, slight nicking and scuffing at spine.
I've seen some reviews on Rex Stout's The Second Confession that indicate it's one of Stout's weaker entries, but I certainly didn't think so. And Michael Prichard's reading of the story certainly enhanced the drama of the story and the humor between Nero Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin. The seller shipped promptly and the tapes were in excellent condition. I'm still a fan of cassettes as I've yet to get through an audio CD program without one of the CD's having skips in it, even the brand new ones. Check this one out if you've been hesitating because it's a superbly crafted story.

Fantastic
A great mystery. Will leave you completely surprised. Rex Stout created great characters in Wolfe and Archie and their interplay has a lot of humor. The performer of the audio version is one of the best I have ever heard.
