The book "The Saga of a Viking Beyond the Norse Sea" is a work of fiction that seeks to fill in the gaps between historical facts. Lest anyone suppose that we have invented many passages of the Norse epic through Iceland, Greenland, Labrador, and Newfoundland, Canada, we must say that everything we have described about the historical facts is taken from the ancient texts known as the "Norse Sagas," most of which were written in Iceland, in the Old Norse language, which was the common language of much of Scandinavia during the Middle Ages. Some Nordic sagas originate from Norway and a few from other Norse countries, but certainly the Icelandic sagas are the most important in number and quality. Our work "The Saga of a Viking Beyond the Norse Sea" has focused more on the passages contained in the "Saga of the Greenlanders" and the "Saga of Erik the Red-headed," commonly known as the "Vinland Sagas." If some details were omitted in this work, it was not due to the carelessness of the authors, but because of the large amount of information existing about the so-called "Viking Age" (the period from 790 A.D. to 1100 A.D.). Well, the work evolves around the adventures of Ivar Ullrsson, a young hunter, who lives the most varied adventures from Scandinavia to the lands beyond the Norse Sea (now the Norwegian Sea), including the American continent. We hope that the saga of Ivar Ullrsson will appeal to the reader, especially at the present time, when there is a resurgence of interest in everything related to the Vikings.
