All edges gilt. 40 tissue guarded beautiful steel engravings of ancient coins. Preface and chapters by different authors on topics such as: Adam giving names to creation; Enoch carried up into Heaven; Noah buildest an Altar and offereth a Sacrifice; Abraham offering his Son Isaac for a Sacrifice; Abraham buried in the Cave of Machpelah; Isaac blessing Jacob, instead of Esau; ending with Christ's Ascension. About 50 such chapters, all by different leading theologians of the 19th Century. Of great interest to theologians. Engravings under tissue.
