When we moved to Kotzebue Alaska in 1957, she was my 2nd grade teacher and changed my life. When I went to University of Alaska in 1969, I met her again and we had music and photography classes. On Saturday nights she often came to my soup parties and shared Eskimo stories of all kinds.
I bought my first copy of this book a few years ago. The stories are a treasury and through these stories, one can be introduced to a beautiful culture that has much to teach city people the value of family,thriftiness, and sharing.
The characters are fun, the lessons are light, good for all ages. This homesick Alaskan will be buying 2 more copies soon (since all 3 of my other copies) been lost to lending. This way I will have one to keep and one to share.
