Boards with heavy wear and soiling; spine faded; pages dusty with soiling and light damp staining to the edges. Ednah Robinson Aiken (1872-1960) was an American writer, editor, clubwoman, and playwright, based in the San Francisco Bay area. Her first novel, The River (1914), about California's Imperial Valley, is often cited as an example of California regional literature, and as an "irrigation novel."
