This author has a relaxed flowing style of writing that captures your attention and holds it during tense and very complex scenes of battle. However, if it were only the battle scenes that were done well, the book would still not be of much interest to many readers. It is the rest of the picture that makes Shaara's books so compelling to read. His sense of historical place and how he can make historically well known figures seem real, intensely human, while skillfully avoiding the traps of over dramatization. If you like stories of WWII and the way the world was during that time, get this book and enjoy it.

Great Triology
Have now read all three books and have found them to be excellent reads. I enjoy history of all eras and have read several books about WWII and although all are historically correct, they all are written from the author' s view. These books jump from one historical character to another which gives you a view of the opponents thinking. Would recommend to any one interested in the WWII history.
