HI FOLKS, PLEASE SPELL CHECK THIS BEFORE POSTING JIM
Well, Alexander the Great, what an amazing story. With all the other stuff, he goes to one of the debouches of the Nile into the Mediteranean and says, "Let's build a city here." Then, say he dies, in 323 BC. He owned the "known" world and now his generals want to be the next A-the-G. Well, just like hopefully there will never be another Michael Jackson, there was no A-the-G II. General Ptolemy said, "Well I've always loved Egypt", so he takes it, keeps it and builds Alexandria, complete with a library, like "the most" greatest library ever (for all time until "the Library of Congress). This book tells of a time of great history, great science (my favorite part), great floresence of knowledge and in the end, great for the rest of us, sorrow. Readers, who really love the wonders of the past, the geniuses of the ancients and the fact that humans now aren't that much different from those of before, will love this book. My compliments to the aurthor. I'm not related by the way,to the author, just a forester who loves great history, well told.
