Laboratory Studies on the Relation of the Barium to the Loco-Weed Disease Assuming that an animal drinks 70 pounds of water daily, or 85 kilograms, on the basis of 8 kilograms of loco daily the amount. Of magnesium sulphate in the water would have to be in the ratio. Of 1 to Or, using Crawford's estimate of the amount that an ani mal may eat daily and assuming that a steer gets as much as 5 grams of the barium salts, it follows that the animal would have to receive about an equal quantity of the antidote, and to obtain this amount the ratio of the magnesium sulphate to the water would be about as 1 to 7 000. It was found as a matter of experiment that animals would readily drink water containing magnesium sulphate even when the proportions were quite large.
