Due to the number of books, they were historically referred to as "The Book of the Twelve" or simply "The Twelve." Today, they are most commonly referred to as the "Minor Prophets." It is important to note, however, that they are not referred to as "minor" because they lack theological significance, but rather this title solely reflects the relatively short length of their individual prophecies. In fact, these twelve books are anything but minor. They are filled with tremendously deep and rich theological material. The Minor Prophets will certainly not prove minor to any reader who will invest the time to explore them.
