I've given at least one copy to a friend, since it's a good companion piece to Diamandis' Abundance. Sachs' book ties a lot of social and economic elements together to show a way out of the current cycle of greed, downturn, bail-out, greed. It's optimisitic, but I think ultimately doable.

A great book for "solutionaries"
This is a good book for anyone who wants to understand our current condition, how it got that way and what kinds of attitudes we need to adopt to make change for the better. Jeffrey Sachs is a qualified scholar who has been called upon to solve some of the rest of the worlds most daunting social and economic problems. In this book he focuses his attention on the issues plaguing the American economy. A must read for anyone who not just wants to understand what has gone wrong, but what we can do to change it.
