For Military Buffs Of All Ages
This account details the exploits of Major David Sterling and the men of his command who undertook to slip into the German rear during the North African campaign of WWII. They achieved their goal largly by simply driving around the German lines, far into the desert where no sane person wold expect them to be. Mad dogs and Englishmen, don't you know. Whilst there, Sterling's men observed and attacked in guerilla fashion. The reader will be treated to accounts of strategy, tactics, weapons, explosives, navigation and survival in the desert. _ First read by me as a teenager in the early 70's under the title Who Dares Wins. That paperback copy's remnants are now in a zip-lock baggie, lest they decay further. My first order from Alibris was a replacement, the hardback version, titled Phantom Major. _ Enjoy!
