The People In Your Life Are a Gift is a heartfelt and true story of two people from completely different backgrounds, who met through incredible chance. This short but powerful tale tells the story of how Tina, of East Indian descent and originally from Kenya, and Larry, a white Jewish fellow of North Eastern European origins, almost meet while lining up for coffee at a muffin shop/bakery in a food court near to where they both worked in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, of all places. Both are professionals and go to the same muffin shop every day. After this near miss, Tina decides she is interested in Larry. Finally, through some subterfuge on behalf of Tina and the girl working behind the counter at the muffin shop, they finally connect. They have a first date and then a second, and go on to forge a lasting relationship in spite of their many differences. Together, they create a family with two daughters, events which led to near-death experiences for their firstborn and for Tina, the mother, with the second birth. As with any family, there are other challenges and together they face them. Because of all they encounter, they come to understand the importance of the people who fill their lives. The story of their strong relationship-and their love as parents for their daughters-is told with wisdom, gratitude and humour as the author asks readers to imagine the people in their lives as gifts.
