THE ONENESS BOOKThe most profound moments in human experience are those in which we feel a sense of being at one with the world. At such times we can experience a vastly expanded sense of identity, as if boundaries have fallen away, or alternately a beneficial sense of loss, as if the tiny ego we commonly identify with in day-to-day existence has been undermined, revealed as lacking in any substantiality. In the new perspective this experience brings, things that may have been a source of great worry before can suddenly seem of relatively minor importance or even drop away entirely, being unmasked as groundless fears. A deep sense of the rightness of existence, of a profound meaningfulness, can prevail. We approach life in its wholeness with a sense of reverence and innocent wonder. We live acceptingly within the present moment, from a profound and quietly blissful stillness, and meet all that comes our way with a loving and compassionate openness. Mystics and commentators from a variety of religious traditions have been the ones who have attempted to map such experiences most closely, although they are open to anyone, whether they have a religious belief or not. Furthermore, there are practical paths that can be taken to deliberately encourage such experiences to appear, and to stabilize them and integrate them into our day-to-day lives. This life-enhancing journey to an inner liberation can be taken by all, no matter where their starting point may be and no matter what beliefs about the world they hold. This book presents, in as straightforward a language as possible, information relevant to this extremely valuable undertaking of self-realization. Written in the belief that old truths need to be continually made accessible in new words in order to reach the greatest number of people, it outlines a path to self-knowledge drawing on readily-available tools of meditation and mindful self-inquiry, combined in a holistic manner.About the author: James Donaldson is the pen name of a British-born writer with strong ties to Asia. He has been exploring meditation for well over four decades, and has now chosen to share insights about his practice with those who might be able to gain benefit from them.
