The base is intact, the breaking and scattering presumably fulfilling the ceremony. Several low mounds in pine woods in this region were explored without discovery of bones or of artifacts. Mounds In Brock Hammock, Bay' County. A small mound in Brock Hammock, about 3 miles southerly from West Bay P. O., is described by us in a former report.'2 Near this mound, on hammock land belonging to the West Bay Naval Stores and Lumber Co., St. Andrews, Fla., were two low rises, a short distance apart. Careful search with trial-holes unearthed dwelling-site debris, shells, fishbones, sherds, etc. In one was a skeleton partly flexed to the right. Mound West Of Burnt Mill CREEK,3 Bay County. In pine woods belonging to the Sale-Davis Co., Southport, Fla., was a mound about one-quarter mile west of Burnt Mill creek and one mile from its mouth, approximately. This mound, about 2.5 feet in height from the outside and 3 feet from base to summit, had a basal diameter of 45 feet. All the eastern part of the mound and also considerable on each side of it (in which latter digging nothing was found), as well as all the central portion, were dug out. On the base near the center was an inconsiderable deposit of human bones cremated into small fragments.
