Dr. Charles B. Williams, Greek scholar, translated the New Testament, bringing out the tense significance of Greek verbs. An ordained minister of the Gospel, he earned both a doctor of divinity and a doctor of philosophy. His translation, "The New Testament" is my favorite First published in 1937 it remains a useful tool in the 21st century. For instance, he translates 1 John 3:8-9, "Whoever practices sin belongs to the devil, because the devil has practiced sin from the beginning. This is why the Son of God appeared, to undo the devil's works. No one who is born of God makes a practice of sinning because the God-given life-principle continues to live in him and so he cannot practice sinning, because he is born of God."
