This book is filled with a lot of stitch patterns, more than what most stitch pattern books give. There are simple ones, but also some pretty advanced ones as well with many in between. There is also a verity of both lacy and denser fabrics. Each stitch pattern has a photo of swatch, text explanation, and crochet diagram. All the stitch patterns are organized into groups based on what kind of stitches the pattern has. There are also some granny square patterns at the end.
The main drawback is if you prefer text explanations, you are likely to be disappointed as it is just that: a short text explanation. It doesn't detail row by row. I personally prefer to look at the diagrams first and then look at the text if I get lost, so I find this sufficient for my needs. I will admit the some of diagrams are kinda small, but there is enough information to get the pattern.
Also note that this book assumes you already know how to crochet, so if you want a how-to book, find something else. There is not section of how-to on the basic crochet stitches. As an experienced crocheter, I don't mind and even prefer to not have a how-to in every book as there plenty of books out there that address this.
