Presenting a well-rounded program of Baroque vocal and instrumental music from the Leufsta collection at Uppsala University, the period ensemble Rebaroque contributes a third volume to the BIS series, The Musical Treasures of Leufsta Bruk. This Swedish village, also known as Lövstabruk, is situated to the north of Stockholm and was home to an ironworks foundry established in the 16th century by the Belgian financier Louis De Geer. His descendant, Charles De Geer, was an avid entomologist and an amateur musician, and the scores he collected and played contained a variety of sheet music imported from Amsterdam that was representative of the eclectic styles and tastes of 18th century Europe. As the featured artist, soprano Elin Rombo carries the album with her well-articulated and beautiful renditions of sacred music and secular arias, performing pieces by Conrad Friedrich Hurlebusch and Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny, along with five psalms from the Swedish Psalmbook and a pair of anonymous arias.
