Seller's Description:
Good+ in Good+ dust jacket. 12mo 7"-7½" tall; 246 pages; 1906 Cupples & Leon. HC/DJ. (Circa 1919/1920 printing). Gray cloth with pictorial design in red and black to cover. Original dust jacket is bright and clean, though marred by a very old application of cello tape to reinforce the top and bottome edges and a short length of the rear flap fold. A few small chips to jacket edges and several closed tears. Cloth boards have had some silverfish predation to the sizing of the cloth in the gutters and board edges. A soundly bound and clean copy-in the uncommon original dust jacket. Condition downgraded for the silverfising to the boards and tape application to the jacket edges. G+/G+

Seller's Description:
Small 8vo. Green cloth with white lettering and black, red and white pictorial stamping. 246pp, (4pp ads). Frontispiece, 3 full-page plates. Very good. Quite mild edgewear, with spine faintly rubbed; nonauthorial gift inscription on front flyleaf. A tight, bright, attractive early printing of the first title in "The Motor Boys" first series. Lists up to this title on copyright page (first three titles were all issued 1906) and to the fourth title ("The Motor Boys Across the Plains, " published 1907) in ad at rear, thus making this likely the second printing. This first "Motor Boys" series published 16 titles between 1906 and 1915, the second series six titles between 1916 and 1924. An uncommon sharp copy of one of the earliest printings (though not the first) of the first title in this popular, long-running series. Fun front board graphic shows the three boys in moroting garb touring in a right-hand drive horseless carriage.
