There were many fine images and descriptions in the book of Celtic times, but I guessed the identity fo the villain about halfway through the book, which wasn't hard to do: the clues were a little too obvious. The Irish names and terminology are undoubtedly genuine, and I liked the explanation of the culture, but a pronunciation guide at the front of the book would have been helpful. I don't particularly like a team that solves mysteries in which one member is presented as totally intelligent and competent and the other is pretty dense. It comes across as 1) contrived and 2) irritating. The story was fairly satisfying but overall neither deep nor engaging. I'm glad that I read it but am not interested in reading other mysteries in this series.
