I have read several of Miles Smeeton's cruising accounts. This book is typical of his style which gives the reader an interesting blend of information on sailing techniques, cruising grounds, and people that he and his wife meet along their way. While a mature man, his sense of exploration, wonder and enjoyment of nature comes through on every page. Tthey travelled with understated physical effort to many remote places which for them before the age of jet travel was even more valued. His navigation into so many tricky places has the respect of any experienced sailor. Perhaps above all, Miles' sense of calm assurance floats through the whole story. A good read.
