Three of these manuscripts are illustrated by series of coloured pictures which represent three distinct periods of Ethiopian art, and in the coloured plates, which are interleaved throughout the work, very careful reproductions of them, both as regards form and colour, have been given. It is, perhaps, hardly necessary to say that the texts and their coloured illustrations are now published for the first time.
