I bought this book with high hopes. With comparisons to the great Augusten Burroughs, I was looking forward to a smart, witty laugh out read. Instead Robert Leleux sugar coated the story of being abandoned by his father and his mother's vanity driven meltdown to find another rich husband. As he recounts his teen years with his fab mother and her insane schemes, I could not help but sorry for him. He came off as not realizing that his mother was a self centered narcissit who cared little for her son and was more worried about her own prospects at attracting the opposite sex with money. I think family therapy would have been the better option for Robert. But then again this book is a fast read and made me feel a little bit better about my own family, at least I'm grateful about that.
