Seller's Description:
Various. Fine in Fine jacket. A lovely first edition copy of this fascinating catalogue of the Western, Greek and Oriental medieval manuscripts of Keble College, Oxford. Many of the manuscripts listed in this catalogue were given to the college from the monumental collection of the renowned nineteenth century bibliophile Sir Thomas Brooke. These works have been combined with other volumes from all the large libraries, providing an extensive overview of liturgical books, or books of Hours. This work also contains fascinating descriptions of illustrations and decorations edited by the renowned English paleographer Malcolm Beckwith Parkes. Parkes was best known for his contributions to the scholarship of medieval manuscripts, specifically his seminal studies of the manuscripts of Geoffrey Chaucer and William Langland.
