A study of their occurrence in some seven hundred normal children on the basis of an inventory is here reported. Intensive study is given to the relation of such habits to family history, habit formation, nutritional status, fatigue, imitation, age, and sex. The material should prove of interest to parents, physicians, psychologists, and teachers. One of the significant contributions is the development of a method of measurement which is applicable to any observable trait and which may, in the future, throw light upon many problems now difficult of solution.
