Excerpt from The Master, Known Unto the World as Jesus the Christ: His Life and Teachings; Being Recoveries by the Writer Through Illuminations, Visions and Experiences, Wherein Are Set Forth the Inner Meanings of the Master's Teachings, and the Nature of His Jesushood and Christhood In presenting this volume to the religious public as a contribution to the theological problems of our time, especially the diflicult question of the reality of the beloved Master who is known as jesus the Christ, the writer would have it understood that he lays no claim to such scholastic attainments as have been revealed in the works of recent writers on the Historical jesus nor does he desire that this volume should be regarded as a contribution of that order. Whilst criticism of the traditional sources and interpretations has been found necessary in the new statement of spiritual facts, it should be borne in mind that the chief object of the work is essentially spiritual. The appeal in the Teachings is, as it was in the days of the M ani festation, direct to the Soul, and not to the Traditions of the Elders, however venerable. For this reason he feels that the teachings will not command the interest and approbation of those who are accustomed to follow the purely traditional methods of research and inter pretation but he has reason for believing that there are many Souls awaiting such a message, who will gladly welcome a true vision of the Master, and what He meant by jesushood, Christhood, and a Lord consciousness.
