Seller's Description:
567. Hardcover with dust jacket. Personal library stamp on ffep and lower edge of text. Upper edge of text is worn. Dust jacket is worn and taped. Else good.
This is an excellent, comprehensive overview of the development and structure of the liturgy used in the overwhelming majority of Catholic churches throughut the world until 1970, when the new Mass liturgy of Vatican II took effect. A study like this is far more than simply a handbook of ritual. It is a chronicle of the ways in which people have worshipped in succeeding generations, of the development of piety. Highly recommended to anyone interested in liturgy, church history.
