I loved the movie, but the book was awesome as well. A very sweet easy read.

unlikely romance without the sap
Ann Howard Creel's descriptions of the exchanges of Olivia and Ray are so well written, the reader will feel the ackwardness of two strangers living together, doing their best with the hand they have been dealt. With the added tension of WWII, an internment camp, and accusations of treason; she builds a story which will linger still in phrases after you return the book to the shelf.

A feel-good book!
This was a lovely yet interesting book set in WW2 that combines personal conflicts with the then world-wide problems and frame of mind brought on by war. I originally read it because I saw it's Hallmark movie (which is also good and follows the book pretty well). It's a pleasant and inspiring book with an underlying theme about accepting the circumstances and the grace that other people give. Powerfull book with an ending that put me in a good mood!
