During my tenure as a teacher I was introduced to many modern books of descriptive and prescriptive grammar. Toward the end of my career we were making a transition from writing with "bits" of grammar added. However, as state testing soon found its spot in the curriculum it was no longer what one thought was competent knowledge, but what one found useful in teaching state tests.
I found this book--published in 1964--one of the most useful, practical and easy to understand, while reinforcing the grammar (writing) sections of the state test. While an old book, it remains one of my favorites; it served its purpose well. An A+ book.
