If you look at the Confirmation service you will find that the gift of the Spirit in Baptism is acknowledged. 6. Can a man be a good man who never attends church.? Certainly; we must never for a single moment say that good is not good wherevor we find it. That man who does not attend church is losing a glorious chance; he is unawakened to his privilege, but, if he is living up to his lights, we have no right to say goodness is not goodness. In fact, in our day, numbers of people who imagine that they do not believe in Christianity are breathing the air of Christianity. There are thousands of unconscious Christians. _ It has been a difficulty to many to find how good many an agnostic is. But they forget that most agnostics whom we know live in Christian countries. They live in a country in which Christianity has been believed and practised for nearly two thousand years. The whole place is full of an atmosphere of Christ, and a man breathes it, whether he knows it or not; and therefore you see in him Christian virtues. It does not mean that he would not be a better man, and receive much more help and strength by coming to church and using to the full means of grace.
