A State of Freedom lost to history
The Revolutionary War has ended; some strong and brave Americans have expanded west. Woodsmen Of North Carolina and Virginia, infected with the Spirit of Freedom, self-reliance, and the desire to be self-sufficient settled the rugged mountains of Appalachia and the Tennessee Valley. When North Carolina Government over taxed, and ignored the people, they rebelled to form their own sovereign state. From 1784 to 1788, with much debate, decent, and struggle the brave men and women struggled against many forces to include economics, Indians, environmental challenges, to form the Free State of Franklin. Eventually forging the State of Tennessee in1796, where the spirit of the Free State of Franklin still lives in the twelve counties of East Tennessee.
