This book is a facsimile of the interior of the original book. Princess Ozma has ruled so wisely and happily in the wonderful Land of Oz for so long that most of us have forgotten the strange story of the Lost King of Oz--Ozma's father. As everyone in Oz knows, the King was transformed from his royal self by Mombi, the wicked old Gilliken witch, and lost his throne and his crown when he, himself, was lost. In this Oz book the Royal Historian tells how Snip, the little buttonboy, and Pajuka, the great white goose--who had been the lost King's prime minister in the good old days--set out from the jolly Kingdom of Kimbaloo to find the King and to petition Princess Ozma to punish Mombi for her wicked mischief. Princess Dorothy meets Snip and Pajuka, as she returns from a sudden and curious visit to Hollywood with a funny and friendly moving-picture dummy, and the four adventurers are whisked to the Emerald City by Kabumpo, the Elegant Elephant. At the Court of Ozma the Scarecrow and the Wizard of Oz join in the attempt to find the Lost King, and the surprising events that follow make a truly exciting Oz story. After many thrilling attempts, the mystery of the Lost King is magically solved, but you must read for yourself to find out all about it.

Seller's Description:
John Neill. Very Good. An illustrated edition of this story from the popular land of Oz. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson as a continuation of the previous books on Oz. Based around L Frank Baum's original tales of Oz series, Thompson wrote several works continuing from Baum's series. Other titles by Plumly Thompson include 'The Royal Book of Oz', 'Kabumpo in Oz', 'Grampa in Oz' and many others. L Frank Baum was an American author chiefly known for his children's books, in particular his 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' and its thirteen novel sequels. Despite the verso of title page stating 'Copyright 1926 by The Reilly & Lee co' this work is actually c1945 as it was then that this work was published without the colour plates. With pictorial endpapers in addition to numerous black and white vignette illustrations by John R Neill, who illustrated more than forty stories set in the Land of Oz. Neill's pen and ink drawings have become identified almost exclusively with the Oz series. In original cloth covered boards with pictorial detail pasted to the front board. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the spine, joints and extremities. Rubbing is heavier to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean throughout. Very Good.
