If you like beautiful art work and woodland animals, you will like this book whether or not you know the work of Rien Poortvliet.
I love his work because he is one of the few artists I know of who had the knack of being able to draw or paint any thing from any angle.
His sense of humor and his insight to how different animals live and interact is apparent in his work. He had a deep respect for nature and the environment. He had a great skill in sharing his observations with the viewer.
Even Rien Poortvliet's sketches are wonderful pieces of art. He could convey complete images with just minimal strokes and lines.
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves animals, the outdoors, art, or any of the other Rien Poortvliet's works.
