Savitri Devi posits that history occurs in cycles, each beginning with a golden age of heroism and nobility, but as time goes corruption and dissipation set in, gradually tending to kill all civilization. To illustrate her thesis, Savitri Devi presents us with three figures from history: Akhnaton, a king of ancient Egypt; Genghis Khan, a medieval Mongol conqueror; and Adolf Hitler, the greatest German leader of the twentieth century, who rose to challenge international Jewish power. Akhnaton, we learn, held to a religion of peace and light. His symbol was the sun. Although he was undoubtedly wise, his religion would not permit him to act aggressively, not even when his nation's territories were threatened by foreign conquerors. Akhnaton was, says Devi, all sun and no lightning Genghis Khan, on the other hand, excelled at conquest. But his motives were entirely selfish, and the empire he founded rotted from within as his successors bickered among themselves. Genghis Khan failed to base his laws on the eternal truths of existence; i.e., he was all lightning, and no sun. Adolf Hitler was both sun and lightning. He was a leader in touch with eternal truth and was willing to use power in its service. Unfortunately for him, for Germany, and for all mankind, he appeared too soon on the stage of history. In all of history so far, Adolf Hitler is the figure with the nearest balance of these two tools of change. If the death forces had not united to crush him, his National Socialist state would have become the seed of a millennium of racial progress and renewed life. 199pp.
