Good in Good jacket. Book Brown pebbled hardcover with gilt titling to spine. 406 pages, plus several pages of ads in the rear. Bumps to corners and spine ends. Head and foot of spine show wear. Previous owner's name (Emma Carrington Ingleside, April 28, 1858) neatly written on FFEP, where the top corner near the spine has a ragged one-inch tear. The next few pages have small tears to the top and right edges. Frontis with tissue guard in place. Some foxing to pages. The dust jacket is a plain brick-colored jacket with no writing that has small tears to the spine ends. (There is no writing on the DJ and it may even be something that was made and added to the book. ) This book comes from Ingleside, the Historic home of the Carrington Family in Halifax County, Virginia, and was discarded by the South Boston Historical Museum before being saved by a collector. Size: 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall.
