I got this for my daughter who is a music teacher. I read it , of course, before I gave it to her and was quite pleased with the book. It was interesting to me, and I am just a big kid, So, I would think others would enjoy it. Not sappy, like some books for children, and not dry and "factual" like others. I would say the author aimed it at the 8 - 10 year old boy, but I think it is ok for an even larger range of age. If the entire series is written this well it would be worth having them all.
