From the deponents (97) we have various derivatives, in no way differing in meaning from those which come from other verbs. A function is something to perform. A lapse is a fall, eloquence is speaking out, nativity and use at once suggest natus and usfis. A pact or compact is a bargain; an expert is one who has been tried: i.e. has had experience.
