DVD Last Station
Excellent movie and performance by Christopher Plummer who played Tolstoy. He shoudl have been given an Academy award for this performance which was masterly and of the same class as the likes of Lawrence Olivier, Richard Burton, Peter O' Toole etc or at least earned him a Knighthood! The film is an epic of the same proportion as Dr Zhivago but not as long. My only wish is that they have provided uninformed audience with a bit more background as to who Tolstoy was and his contributions to humanity as a great philosopher and writer. Helen Mirren's role as supporting actress was rather over played and over dramatic. I feel she had not researched the role well enough and she came across more as a deranged English wife than a Russian Countess. In all an interesting and enjoyable movie!
