Publisher's original burgundy and gilt bevelled boards with, on upper board, a worn gilt vignette of Dr. Livingstone being transported across a river on the shoulders of one of his black porters, Spine expertly and invisibly rebacked. Two stamps of the Archbishop's Library, Chicago else unmarked and no other institutional marks. No foxing or browning. This was one of the greatest accounts of 19th century exploration, one that was read and re-read. Scans available on demand.
