Dust jacket in rust, lettered White with an illustration of a Byzantine mosaic. / Norman Scarfe (1923-2014) distinguished historian and author of Shell Guides (Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire). His book plate states 'Sum Scarfei nec muto dominum' (i.e. 'I belong to Scarfe, I do not change my master. ') He landed on D-Day with the 3rd Division, later writing its history in 1947. Having read History at Oxford he moved to Suffolk and is known for his work on Suffolk history. He is the author of several 'Shell Guides. ' Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket.
