This is probably the best book I've read about the Kodaly method. It includes a brief history about Kodaly and his work, but is mostly about what specific techniques and materials a Kodaly curriculum would entail. There is a chapter about what this method has accomplished in Hungary, but then later breaks it down to what is really possible in an American setting. There are lots of details and ideas for teachers, and one of the best things about this book is the appendix of folk songs which progress in the same sequence that Kodaly uses, but with American folk songs. I purchased this book because I'm a homeschool choir director, and I found this book was very useful for my circumstance too, not just for a public school setting. In fact, this book would make a great manual for a homeschooler to use this method for their own children. I'm now reading "The Kodaly Context" by the same author, and it's a great book too.
