Classic Alan Moore
This is an origin story of The Joker, which explores the psychological dimensions of what it might take to turn an average person into a villain. Moore implies that it takes loss and alienation and despair, all of which are readily available to anyone. Moore is known for being philosophical in his work, for pushing boundaries of expectation and moving the medium into something more literate. Brian Balland's artwork here is also quite wonderful, and Bolland re-inks the original work for a more striking effect in color. This is a wonderful work and a must-have for any fan of Batman or the work of Alan Moore.
