Excerpt from The Interest of Great Britain, Steadily Pursued, Vol. 1: In Answer to a Pamphlet, Entitl'd, the Case of the Hanover Forces Impartially and Freely Examined That the Union of the Royal and Electoral Capacities in the fame Perfon will ever be ar tended with one unavoidable, and indeed great Inconvenience to the Sovereign and Subjects of both Nations; whenever the King of Great Britain, is obliged to purfue Meafures neceitary for pre ferving the Rights and Priviledges of his Britz i, Subjects, that are difagreeable to the Views of any other Power; that Power will not Revenge, to makeufe of any Handle to harafs and perplex him in his Electoral Dominions; and whenever the Elector of Hanover is involved in: contei'ts and Troubles with any Prince, or State, ' on account of his Ele???ioral Pretenfions, that Prince, or State, will, in Refentment, endeavour, if any Opportunity offers, to annoy him and his Briti/n Subjects in Matters relative to the Interefi' of Great Britain; and altho' it be impoliible for Great Britain not to take a Part in either of thefe Cafes; in the lait, for her own proper Defence.
