Doris Ruscoe came to the Bible College of Wales in 1932. 'I was earnestly seeking to meet God in a new way,' she wrote. 'The answer came to me through Rees Howells.' This is a summary of the teachings and writings of the great Welsh preacher and missionary Rees Howells on the subject of intercession. In the first two chapters the author, one of his colleagues, explains how she met Rees Howells, the effect he had on her spiritual guidance and how he himself met with God and came to understand the need for intercession. In the remaining chapters the author introduces detailed notes that were taken at the time of Rees Howells' Bible readings and his commentary on them. These passages, often quoting Howells verbatim, illuminate his ideas, and bring his teaching to life. Because of this, the book is one of the most important documents about Rees Howells, including as it does a valuable collection of original material, and will appeal to a wide range of evangelicals. The book contains a foreword by Norman Grubb.

Ress Howells was great-good reading!
I collect Ress Howell's books and give them to young Christian and missionaries as an encouragement to prayer. This book by Doris Ruscoe gives additional insigts, evaluation, and some of his personal teaching that is not in his life story book. Miss Ruscoe worked with Howells in the Welsh Bible School, knew him well and gives some good intimate insights.
Howells was a simple coal miner that was converted and used of God in his homeland, and into my area of missionary service-Africa. Just a few mile away from where I worked from 1955 to 1986 he saw God work in a great way. There was a worldwide flu epidemic and people died by the thousands. Howells prayed that no one at Risitu mission would die and, while all around the dirtrict there was death, there was none at the mission. Story after story give glory to God and show what prayer can do. He prayed when the bombs fell on London, when Hitler advanced, when Ethiopia was in danger, and when babies cried, or tramps suffered on the streets. He was a man of compassion and action. Ress Howells is my kind of Christian that lived right, obeyed God, and had a prayer life that speaks faith and trust. If you wonder if God is real, or if following Him is right, read about Howells and you will have your answer.
